Enjoy the Festive Season

It’s December 1st and it seems that wherever you look Christmas is thrust upon us. It’s a constant reminder of what still needs to be done and what remains to be organised. With only a few weeks left before the big day whatever it means to you, it’s easy to let the media hype add pressure and whip you into something of a frenzy.

Lessons in Communication

As I finished writing yesterday's entry about the Body & Soul event at which Libera Coaching were to be exhibiting, a thought crossed my mind that I hadn't heard from the event organisers to say what time exhibitors could set up their stands.

Body & Soul

Goodness, it's been a hectic couple of weeks both personally and professionally with lots of exciting things on the horizon. The pace seems set to continue for the time being which means I am having to work extra hard to keep the balance right and not let the clutches of stress take hold of me. So far so good I'm happy to say.

Boring People Say They're Bored

I’m afraid to admit that one of my current guilty pleasures is watching a programme called ‘Four Weddings’ on Living TV. For those of you who don’t know, it takes the same format as ‘Come Dine With Me’ but rather than the four people judging one another’s dinner parties, they attend each of their weddings and judge them on various criteria.

Uplifting Influences

For as many years as I can remember, my mum has had the poem ‘Desiderata’ by Max Ehrmann in a frame and hung in her loo. Now to avoid going into detail all I’ll say is that over the years I’ve spent a lot of time reading the words of this inspirational poem.... so much so that even as a young girl I knew it off by heart. As a child there were elements of it which I didn’t quite understand due to the blissful naivety that comes with childhood but even then I liked the feelings evoked in me when I read it.

Love to Laugh

It’s Monday morning and I am feeling energised and excited for the week ahead and I know exactly why. On Friday, one of my closest friends from University came to stay for the weekend and despite keeping in touch we hadn’t seen each other for almost 6 long years due to the geographical distance between us. On the way to the train station to collect her I was actually giddy with excitement, hoping that our friendship would be the same as when we last saw each other. The minute she arrived I knew that nothing between us had changed and despite the fact that so much has happened in our lives within the time that’s passed, the foundations of our friendship are as strong as ever.

'Any reaction is better than no reaction...'

During a recent riding lesson, I was learning a new exercise and whilst asking the horse to do something quite specific she responded in a completely unexpected way, which puzzled me. Fiona, my riding instructor possibly sensed my confusion and as she often does at such moments, offered some words which really struck a chord with me.

There's no such word as can't....

I was on holiday recently and whilst having a post-dinner glass of wine under the stars, one of the tea-lights which we'd popped in an empty wine glass blew out in the warm breeze. Neither a lighter nor matches were to hand so I decided to get one of the other still alight candles from its wine glass and re-light the one which had gone out.

Protect your passions

One of my great passions in life is horse riding. As a child and teenager I dedicated every spare moment to my pony and it was a very sad day when I had to sell my beloved Sophie in order to concentrate on my GCSEs. I promised myself that as soon as my education was out of the way I would get back into riding and pick up where I left off.

Savour the Moment

My nature is such that I look ahead and plan for the future. Where I'll go, what I'll do and who I'll be. Whilst I firmly believe that it's terribly important to set personal goals and aspire to be the person I want to be, I also take time to enjoy the present and take stock of how fantastic things are for me right now, this second.
